Lilacia Park was first created as a lilac garden in 1910 by Colonel William Plum and his wife Helen. In 1927, the garden was given to the town and named Lilacia Park after Colonle William Plum's death. The park is located in Lombard, IL and open to the public daily. Today, the park has over 200 varieties of lilacs, 50 varieties of tulips, a greenhouse, historical building, picnic areas, and drinking fountains. Lombard, Il is synonmous with tulips as Chicago is with the Sears tower. The term Lilacia is latin for Lilac. Office hours are from Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and closed on Sundays.
